Resident Spotlight- Fran Alden
Fran Alden is one gentleman in the DCT community that holds a distinct place in many categories. Having lived here more than 10 years, Fran is the only gentleman in our 90's Elite Club. He is our last remaining World War II veteran in the community and is the only male volunteer to cover our front desk. Yet, this is only the tip of the iceberg of who he is and the rich history he brings to each of us.
A native of the small central Pennsylvania town Emporium, Fran became a mechanic after serving in the US Marine Corps. during World War II. After many years in Pennsylvania, his wandering spirit brought him to Georgia. Here in the Decatur area, he established his shop on Memorial Drive where he worked many years on all kinds of vehicles. Fran is known to hit the road visiting friends in Florida, Alabama and even make the trip back to his old stomping ground in Pennsylvania. Having broken many a bone in his many adventures, he has shown all of us how a great attitude and strong spirit accelerates healing. He's always moving and shares a positive message with all that cross his path. |
