The Will to Find a Way- Housing for Veterans
James was a recently relocated veteran from Florida using temporary housing while obtaining health services at the VA hospital. He found the DCT Senior Living Community was an ideal place to get on his feet here in Atlanta. Yet, finding the way to obtain financial requirements of a deposit, a first month rent while addressing his needs for daily living were a bit out of reach. The VA services connected him to Hope Atlanta whom took the time to hear his story, check his background and partner with him in tackling the challenge to obtain stable housing. Four years later, James is content he found a way to stay close to the hospital, find affordable housing and enjoy a safe, secure setting to flourish.
This past month, the two organizations partnered again and another homeless veteran is getting a new start as they enter the senior chapters of life. The community’s vibrancy is strengthened through opportunities to live and share life with those who have served. The staff appreciates the time dedicated by Hope Atlanta to build a relationship and assure each veteran is a good fit for this community.
